Moving the File Backup into the cloud



Some of the basic backup requirements are off-site storage and backup retention. I would go as far and say that restoring files, that perhaps have been delete or overwritten accidentally  is not one of those basic requirements even though it’s covered. With disk storage being so cheap your first “line of defense” for restoring files should be either Shadow Copy if you are running a a Windows based file server or some kind of disk based snapshot. In any case, unless you have to perform a disaster recovery or you need to provide historical data, there should be no need to revert to you backups.
